Tourism in the Kashmir valley has rebounded in recent years and in 2009, the state became one of the top tourist destinations of India.[5] Gulmarg, one of the most popular ski resort destinations in India, is also home to the world's highest green golf course.[6] The decrease in violence in the state has boosted the states economy specifically tourism.[7] It was reported that 7.36 lakh tourists visited Kashmir in 2010 including 23,000 foreigners. In 2011, the number of tourist arrivals in Kashmir touched the mark of 10 lakh.

Travel agents were supposed to go out of business with the advent of online travel booking. While many felt the pinch, agencies are still thriving. So in this day and age what compels people to book through an agents. 1- Convenience is always a factor, online or other there is work required to find best flights and prices. An agent can work diligently finding the best one for you. 2- Fares can sometimes be cheaper at an agent, airlines sells tickets by blocks you can never guess where the best deals come from. 3 - Experience can be a factor as well, there are many factors like classes, fare bargains and all that can average use might not understand. 4- Voice of sanity is required as well. A customer of mine found a flight online which was scheduled to depart at 2:00 am. After explaining why we omitted that option he was all thankful.

DIY Umrah

Many people opt to perform Umrah by themselves. Without buying a package from an agent. A visa is procured through and agent and everything is done via the person himself. While this can sometimes be expensive as group discounts may not apply, it does give flexibility. Flights can be booked at google, Uber can be used for transport, train is available too. Hotels can be booked online on many sites. A custom no frills package can be designed. However, this required communication and technical skills and preferably a local contact in case things do not go as planned.
